Tales in dollsChildrens's Art Day

Children's Art Day at MUNCH is an event series that offers playful tours, creative workshop activities and inspiring experiences on children's terms. This Sunday, you can get to know Paula Rego’s art through a storytelling session in the exhibition and a drop-in puppet-making workshop! The event is suitable for children aged 3 and over, accompanied by an adult.
Story telling with Hanna Asefaw
We invite you to a storytelling session with performing artist Hanna Asefaw, who has created a new fairytale inspired by Paula Rego’s fabulous art. Paula Rego drew inspiration from both fairytales and folk tales. During the storytelling session, the children are invited to reflect on how art can be a way of expressing one’s thoughts and standing up against injustice.
You can meet Hanna in the exhibition Paula Rego: Dance Among Thorns at 11:30, 12:30, 13:30 and 14:30. The storytelling session lasts approximately 10 minutes and is included in the regular entrance ticket or your membership. Space in the exhibition hall is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Drop-in puppet workshop with Ella Honeyman-Novotny
Paula Rego created numerous puppets from fabric, papier-mâché, tape and other materials she had readily available. Many of her dolls were inspired by fairy tales, and she used them to explore images and themes that interested her. In this workshop, you can make your own figure inspired by Paula Rego’s wondrous dolls. The workshop is led by puppet maker Ella Honeyman-Novotny.
The workshop is open between 10:00 -12:00 and 13:00 -15:30 on the third floor, entrance next to the café in the Lobby. The workshop is included in the regular entrance ticket or your membership and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Welcome to Children's Art Day and an exciting encounter with Paula Rego's art!
